July 26, 2008

Congrats Dr Ram

July 25, 2008
President Dr. Rambaran Yadav

President Dr. Rambaran Yadav

July 23- I was one of the invitee CA member in today’s sworn-in ceremony of the 1st Prez and veep of FDR Nepal. We had been asked to present on time at Sital Niwas now converted as the Rastrapati Bhawan. I myself, Binda and Com. Mukunda reached there at 2:19 some 26 minutes prior to the given time.

As one of the voter and the campaigner I approched to the Prez and said- Congrats Doctor saheb! He immediately replied- I am thankful to you and your party.

According to set programme all CA member should take their chair at 2:45, PM and CJ will arrive at 2:55, Vice-prez at 3:10 and  arrival time for the honorable President was set 3:15

However, the time was delayed by 45 minutes accordingly. I feel no embarrassment, but some of the Panchyat-time “National Songs” which was still claimining Nepal as Hindu State was being difficult to swallow down for me. In the mean time, the technician tuned FM radio which was extremely unwanted.

Anyway, the Prez arrived, the moment was too emotional for me as well that a cattle-herder of central south part of my Nation is sworning-as the First Citizen of my country! It was such a high peak that a citizen hardly dreamt to climb; but when time come knowingly or unknowingly person get chance.

The moment was exciting and I felt, in my life time it is first and last moment!

I went to the dice where Prez, Vice-prez, PM and Cj were accepting wel-wishes. As one of the voter and the campaigner I approched to the Prez and said- Congrats Doctor saheb! He immediately replied- I am thankful to you and your party.

One Day after Prez election

July 20, 2008

July 20- Today, in two reasons I found importance-i) 19 years before today we had gave birth GEFONT in a secret place of Kathamndu Lagan-I was named the General Secretary. It was a historical turn in my carier, which gave me a never erasing title- a trade unionist! ii) Today is the second of historical election of First president and vice president of FDR Nepal– we won the post Vice-Prez from our alliance (the UML-NC-MJF). However, we have hang-on on the election of Prez- Our candiate Dr. Ram Baran Yadav (the GS of NC) got 283 vote against 270 of Ram Raja Prasad Sing of Maoist camp. To win the race one should have 298 votes… tomorrow morning second round election will take place.

Why I am writinting this blog then? Neither I am a candidate nor the candidate of my parties? Is there any reason? Yes, I am one of the voters out of 601 (currently 594) of the presidential election and I was also one who insist our partiy to join this alliance while Maoist betray us terribly.”

Campaign For First Prez and Vice

July 18, 2008

July 18- Today, I participate in election campaign for the post of first president and vice-president of Federal Democratic Republic. Our candidate due to Maoist betrayal were Ramprit Paswan and Astha Laxmi Shakya.

Maoist are looking such Candidate for President, as Pari Thapa says- Chasma Laune Aankha Na dekhne, Lathhi tekne khutta na tekne; kuna ma basne dunaa ma khanee!”

Maoist gave candidecy for prez Ramraja P Singh and Shanta shrestha; where as NC candidate is Dr. Ram Baran Yadav for Prez and Maan Bdr B.K for vice-prez.

Today parliament secretariate organised a candidate introductory programme….

A lovely dinner with Prof. Mathur

July 12, 2008

July 12- Last night I was too exhuausted, there was two reasons-i) unity talks with CoNEP was disturbing. Comrades had “strange” positon. They were saying- they have problem with gefont becuse its image is more Communistic. They have leaders in some affiliates who are folowers of Nepali Congress. At the same time they have pronblem with GEFONT because its international affiliation is more broad-based, not as communist. CoNEP’s claim is they are with WFTU which is communist organisation.

Intersting! they are not happy with our national policy because we are with poupular left movement, they are unhappy with us beacause our international affilation is more broad-based. What a princile our comrades are following?!

I was too wet due to heavy rain during my return. However, it is too exciting event for me after that one professor Ajit Mathur organised a lovely dinner honouring me and Bind being a CA member. Great! such celebration even we didn’t organise in our home.

A Dangerous event in CA

July 10, 2008

July 9- It was almost midnight I reached to my home completing business in the Constituent Assembly today. The house was stalled since 15 days, the reason was Madhesi parties were asking proper wording during 5th amendment in the constitution. There was two major demands- i) make whole plain areas covering 22 districts a autonomous province known as Madhes and; ii) recruit madhesi in group in National Army. It was bit problematic for other political parties particularly the UML from which I represent in the CA. Thus, the Madhesi parties just made  picketing in the rostrum of CA.

Madhesi Parties were interested to insert a word- Swayatta Madhes Prades or autonomous Madhes province without specifying geography; they were further wanting to recruit Madhesi in group into the National Army.

To defuse this, today some agenda items finalised. First Maoist chairman will assure those parties throughout his address, then all Madhesi parties address the CA. And lastly, one of the CA member from MJF- J.P. Gupta will table his notice to oppose the process of amendment.

Till thhis point, well- there was no harm. However, when they start to deliver their thunder speech– they use all deregetory words against major political parties and challegned if their motion be failed- a cverticle dividing lines will be drawn which ultimately divide Nepal!

Maintaining this position, they walkout the CA building when the motion was failed. Out of 601 CA member some 83 Madhesis join this action.

Perhaps it is a normal thing in the parliamentry process. However, a alrming and dangerous poit is our MadhesisCA member were echoing a theory of “A country with two nation”. This was some how similar version of Jinna diuring India-Pak division and Pak-Bangladesh division.

Opps!
