महिलावाद के हो, कसरी बुभने ?

‘महिलाहरु आपुना संपूर्ण अधिकारहरु मानव अधिकारको रुपमा मागिरहेका छन् । उनीहरु महिला एउटा समूहको रुपमा र पुरुष अर्को समूहको रुपमा बीच विद्यमान समाजले गरेको असमान व्यवहारु लाई चुनौति दिइरहेका छन्। र महिलालाई दासीको रुपमा दोस्रो दर्जाको नागरिकको रुपमा व्यवहार गर्ने सबै प्रकारका कानून एवं शक्ति संरचनाको विरुद्ध विद्रोह गरिरहेका छन्।’

यसरी पछिल्ला वर्षहरुमा महिलावादी आन्दोलन तथा महिलावादी विद्वानहरुले महिलावादको सिद्धान्त प्रचारमा ल्याएका छन् जनु आफैं विभिन्न ‘शाखा-प्रशाखा’को रुपमा विभाजित छ । यस्ता भिन्न सिद्धान्तहरु महिला सम्बन्धि अध्ययन-लैंगिक अध्ययन जस्ता उच्च शिक्षाका पाठ्यक्रमहरुमा पनि सामेल गएिको छ । अरुहरुले जस्तै यहांँ पनि आºनो अनुकुलता अनुरुपको महिलावादको परिभाषा र प्रकार चर्चा गरिएको छ तिनीहरु केही ‘सैद्धान्तिक’ र केही चलनचल्तीका व्यवहारका आधारमा उल्लेख गरिएको छ ।

अग्निशिखा तिनै हुन जो हाम्रो मुटु भित्र अमर छन् !

‘म कुनैपनि रंगको कपडाको पुजक होइन । तथापी म रातो झण्डा मन पराउँछु । र म लगायत अरु समाजवादीहरुका लागि यो जे कुराको प्रतीक बनेको छ त्यसलाई मन पराउँछु । मेरो अध्ययनकक्षमा रातो झण्डा झुयिडएकै छ र यदी म सक्दो हुँ त खुसीका साथ यही झण्डा बोकेर ‘टाइम्स’को कार्यालय अगाडि सबै रिपोर्टस्र् र फोटोग्राफरले देख्ने गरी मार्च गर्ने थिएँ ।’

अग्निशिखाले यो उद्धरण सुनाउँदै भन्नु भयो यो अंकको श्रमिक खवरमा हेलेन किलरको बारेमा लेखे के होला मैले सोधे हेलेन किलर को हुन्?  ‘हेलन किलर तिनै हुन्- जसले आँखा नदेख्ने भएता पनि श्रमजीवी आन्दोलनलाई कलमको माध्यमबाट बल पुर् याएकी थिईन्!’

We are proud on our history and your cordial solidarity

20 years back on 20th July (1989) we launched GEFONT as the first trade union confederation. I was then, the founding Secretary General. We marked 20th founding anniversary this year amidst a grand ceremony. As the President, I made a closing remark. Following is the full text:

Republicanism, which we used to talk as a long-term dream, has become a reality
“It was a rainy day in July 20 years ago. In the face of extreme oppression of the then autocratic regime, we had gathered in a secret location in Lagan, quietly and taking every care to protect us from the evil eyes of the reactionary State, to declare the start of a coordinating mechanism of trade unions in Nepal. To respond to the pressing need in this respect, we have established GEFONT.” A decade ago, our immediate past President Comrade Mukunda had thus remembered the day of July, the 20th of July, while commemorating the 10th anniversary of GEFONT. Today, we have gathered to commemorate its 20th anniversary, hence, in a way, to remember the historic day.

Between then and now the gist of the problems facing us remains the same, so is the set of our demands. The time has, however, taken a new turn. Autocratic monarchy has become history now, and republicanism, which we used to talk as a long-term dream, has become a reality.
